ABOUT ADITYA VIKRAM BIRLA

Indian businessman best known as the former Chairman of Aditya Birla Group, known for its ventures into telecommunications and textiles among other things.

He received his degree in chemical engineering from the the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He was known for his philanthropic work, resulting in the Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital being named in his honor.

His son took control of his companies after his unexpected death at age fifty-two.

He and biologist Leland H. Hartwell both attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
