With the help of one of her aunts she was able to enroll at a business school in Greeley, Colorado.

She has been memorialized as one of the featured figures on The Dinner Party, Judy Chicago's famed installation piece.

She was born in Osgood, Missouri.

She and fellow writer Debra Diblasi are both originally from Missouri.
