ABOUT AMIR KHADIR
Canadian politician who began serving in the National Assembly of Quebec as a representative for Mercier in 2008. He was the first male spokesperson for Québec Solidaire, a political party that grew out of a feminist movement.
He attended the Université de Montréal and McGill University to study physics and went on to study medicine at Université Laval.
He signed an open letter to French President Nicolas Sarkozy that encouraged him to pay slavery reparations to Haiti for rebuilding in the wake of the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
He married Nima Machouf.
He was deeply critical of the administration of George W. Bush and actually threw his shoes at a picture of the president in 2008.
