ABOUT ANNASTACIA PALASZCZUK

Australian politician best known for serving as the premier of Queensland beginning in 2015. Previously she worked as the leader of the Queensland branch of the Australian Labor Party and a member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland.

She grew up in Brisbane and attended a secondary school called St Mary's College, Ipswich. She studied at the University of Queensland, the London School of Economics, and the Australian National University.

She is the first woman to win the premiership from the opposition in Australian history, in addition to having a cabinet with a female majority.

Her family is of German and Polish descent. She grew up with her father, mother, and sisters. For two years she was married to George Megalogenis and later married to Simon Every for five years. She was with Shaun Drabsch from 2015 until splitting in 2018.

She welcomed Prime Minister Anthony Albanese onstage at the August 2023 ALP National Conference in Brisbane.
