Singer and actress who originally found fame as a semifinalist on the eighth season of American Idol. In 2016, she began playing Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton in the Chicago production of the smash hit musical Hamilton.
She represented California in the Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant in 2005. She was named Miss California in 2010.
She made her movie acting debut playing Dolly in the 2014 comedy Mauj Mastiyan (Taste of Love).
Her parents are Muhammad Afsar and Karin Schumacher. She is of German and Bangladeshi descent.
She sang Corinne Bailey Rae 's "Put Your Records On" at her American Idol audition.
