ABOUT ARTHUR MARX

A nonfiction author, television writer and producer, and amateur tennis player, he was the son of the famous Groucho Marx . He published several memoirs detailing his relationship with his father; these include Life with Groucho (1954) and Son of Groucho (1972).

He was an amateur tennis star during his high school years. After attending the University of Southern California, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

He co-created the Broadway play, The Impossible Years.

He was married to his second wife, Lois Gilbert, from 1963 until 2011. Previously, he had been married to Irene Khan for nearly two decades.

He lost to future tennis star Bobby Riggs during the finals of the 1941 Cincinnati Masters.
