After the loss of her father, she worked and invested for seven years to afford the catamaran.

Her family has sailed to locations including North America, the Panama Canal, South Pacific, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia.

Her husband is named Ben. They have a daughter named Willa. In September 2021, they welcomed a son named Bodhi.

Sailing Zatara is also a YouTube channel devoted to a family who sail around the world.
