ABOUT BABY HUEY

Soul and rock singer whose 1971 album The Baby Huey Story: The Living Legend became crucial to the formation of hip-hop music. The album was released posthumously, as he passed away from a drug-induced heart attack at the age of just 26.

He played in a band called The Vets in high school and moved to Chicago at age 19.

He suffered from weight issues throughout his life as a result of glandular disorder and weighed more than 400 pounds shortly before his death.

His birth name is James Ramey and his mother is named Ernestine Ramey Saine.

His song "Hard Times" is one of the most frequently-sampled songs in hip-hop, having been featured on tracks like Ice Cube 's "The Birth."
