ABOUT BARRY ATSMA

Dutch actor best known for his work on the 2014 British film Hector and the Search for Happiness and the 2018 British television series The Split. He has over 50,000 followers on Twitter and 60,000 on Instagram. In 2022, he played Montmorency in the popular TV series The Serpent Queen.

He initially studied law but soon switched to studying drama at the Utrecht School of the Arts, where he graduated in 1996.

He's often recognized in the Netherlands and asked for autographs, but able to walk around England anonymously. He likes to meditate in bed.

He was born in Bromley, South London. His father traveled often in his job for Unilever, so Atsma spent his childhood in England, Greece, Brazil, and The Netherlands. His older brother Rimmert, had Down syndrome and passed away in 2020. He has two daughters from a relationship with actress Izaira Kersten, and two daughters with his current partner, actress Noortje Herlaar.

Recent films include The Hitman's Bodyguard and The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, with Salma Hayek and Ryan Reynolds , and the Starz TV series The Serpent Queen, starring Samantha Morton as Catherine De Medici .
