ABOUT BHIMSEN JOSHI
Indian vocalist known for his performance of Hindustani classical vocal music.
He left his home at age 11 to study music and search for a guru. He succeeded in finding one at age fourteen.
He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest honor for civilian achievement and public service, in 2008.
He married Sunanda Hunagund in 1944, and they had four children. He later married Vatsala Mudholkar in 1951 and had three children.
Tannishtha Chatterjee was also a Hindustani classical vocalist.
