ABOUT BRUCE NAUMAN

Multimedia artist whose best-known works included "LA Air" from 1970 and "Human/Need/Desire" from 1983. His talents spanned photography, neon, video, drawing, printmaking, and performance.

He studied art at the University of California- Davis and initially wanted to be a sculptor.

He worked as an assistant for painter Wayne Thiebaud .

He married fellow artist Susan Rothenberg.

He was influenced by John Cage .
