He won Student Council President of his elementary school.

He loves basketball, swimming and playing video games with his friends.

His father is actor Mykel Shannon Jenkins. In 2004, he was the winner of the first season of the SOAPnet reality series, I Wanna Be a Soap Star.

In 2014, he made his Broadway debut in A Raisin in the Sun, opposite Denzel Washington , LaTanya Richardson and Sophie Okonedo .
