ABOUT BURNS SINGER
Scottish poet and translator known for a 1957 poetry collection entitled Still and All. Also a journalist, he published Living Silver, Five Centuries of Polish Poetry, and other nonfiction works.
His birth name was James Hyman Singer. He was born in New York but raised in Scotland.
He worked for a time as a marine biologist.
He was born into a family of Jewish, Irish, and Polish heritage. He married psychologist Marie Battle in 1955.
He translated the work of Cyprian Norwid and other Polish poets.
