American midfielder who began his MLS career in 2013 with C.D. Chivas USA.
He played college soccer at the University of Connecticut from 2009 to 2012.
He was selected 2nd overall by Chivas USA in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft.
His father, also named Carlos Alvarez, was a professional soccer player as well. His brother is soccer player Efraín Álvarez .
He began his professional career with C.D. Chivas USA, where he was teammates with Oswaldo Minda .
