ABOUT CATHERINE LAGA'AIA

Actress, entertainer, artist, and performer who was cast as Moana in the live-action Disney movie based on the Academy Award-nominated animated film Moana . She also played young Candy in the 2023 Amazon Prime series The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart.

When she was a child, her father hosted the Australian children's television show Play School.

After her Moana casting news, she said she was honored to have an opportunity to celebrate Samoa and all Pacific Island peoples and "to represent young girls who look like me." In the Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, she can be seen in episode three ("Lantern Bush"), episode five ("Dessert Oak"), and episode seven ("Sturt's Desert Pea") of the series.

Her father is Jay Laga'aia . Her mother is Sandra Jane Laga'aia. She is one of eight siblings.

The character Moana was voiced by Auli'i Cravalho in the animated film.
