ABOUT CHARLIE THOMAS
American rhythm and blues singer known for his work with The Drifters , a doo-wop and R&B/soul vocal group. Their song "Under the Boardwalk" has received over 150 million streams on Spotify. After the group disbanded, he formed The New Drifters.
The Drifters had their first hit with the 1953 single "Money Honey."
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Drifters in 1988. In 1999, he received a Pioneer Award from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation.
He was born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia.
He performed alongside Clyde McPhatter in The Drifters.
