She originally started blogging in 2010 under the name Zipped until switching over to Truelane in 2015.

Her blog name Truelane derived from her first coming-of-age novel called True with her middle name Lane.

She grew up in Seattle, Washington. She lived briefly in Minneapolis, Minnesota before moving back.

She and Julie Sarinana are both fashion and lifestyle bloggers.
