ABOUT CHRIS MARKER
Documentary film director and multimedia artist best known for his Akira Kurosawa-inspired film "AK" from 1985.
He worked as a journalist and a photographer before making his first film, "Olympia 52," in 1952.
His short film, "La jetée" (1962), dealt with nuclear war and time travel and was an international success.
He was born in suburban Paris and died in his hometown on his ninety-first birthday.
His multimedia art installation piece, "Owls at Noon Prelude: The Hollow Men," which was exhibited at NYC-MOMA, was inspired by T.S. Eliot 's work.
