ABOUT CHRISTOPHER MCDOUGALL

Nonfiction author, journalist, and health writer known for his bestselling book Born to Run, which looks at the Tarahumara Indians and their ability to run more than 100 miles in a day. He's also written for Esquire and Men's Journal.

Prior to embarking on his writing career, he worked for the Associated Press and covered wars in Africa.

Other books he's written include Girl Trouble and Natural Born Heroes. In Born to Run, he expounds on the idea that modern running shoes have actually hindered the ability of humans.

He went to high school in Philadelphia and attended Harvard University.

Matthew McConaughey was pinned to star in a film adaptation of Born to Run.
