TV actor, entertainer, artist, and performer who has appeared in several well-known and popular television shows like House of Cards , Narcos , The Chi , and Luke Cage . He has also played various film roles, including the role of Trey Washington in the Martin Scorsese -directed film Shutter Island .

He attended Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London. During his teenage years, he was a member of the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company.

He is a fitness enthusiast. After college, Cook moved to New York, and appeared on Broadway in The Lion King and Miss Saigon. He is a dog person. From the year 2014 to the year 2015, he wrote, directed, and starred in the television series A Black Man Acting.

He has three children.

He played the role of Abe in Steven Spielberg 's film adaptation of West Side Story .
