ABOUT DALER MEHNDI
Indian pop singer, songwriter, and music producer who rose to international fame during the early 2000s. He is considered to be the pioneer of Indi-pop music in India. His song "Aasman Ko Chukar" has garnered over 40 million views on Spotify.
He studied traditional Punjabi music in his youth.
He became a member of the Indian National Congress Party and began his political career in 2013. His 1995 album Bolo Tara Ra Ra went double platinum and effectively created a new genre in Indian music, known as Indi-pop.
He was born in Patna City in the northern Indian state of Bihar. He and his wife, Taranpreet Kaur, have four children.
His contemporary, Mohit Chauhan , also became a well-known Indian pop singer.
