Singer-songwriter best known for his hit single "Please Come to Boston," which hit number one on the U.S. Easy Listening charts. His collaboration with singer Anne Murray earned him a CMA Award for Vocal Duo of the Year in 1985.

He was born in Mountain City and worked as an insurance salesman before turning to music.

His song "Augusta" is used as the theme music for The Masters Golf Tournament. "Please Come to Boston" has accumulated more than 10 million streams on Spotify.

His second cousin is famed singer Kenny Loggins .

He wrote the number one single "Morning Desire" for singer Kenny Rogers .
