ABOUT DEAN PHILLIPS

American businessman and politician who has served as the representative for Minnesota's 3rd congressional district in the US House of Representatives. As a political moderate, he has show support for both Republican and Democratic candidates.

He earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota in 2000 before taking a position as president of Phillips Distilling.

He is the founder of Penny's Coffee, which has been known for paying its employees a $15 per hour minimum wage.  He challenged Joe Biden as a Democrat in the 2024 election.

His biological father, Artie Pfefer, was killed in the Vietnam War when Dean was just six months old. His mother DeeDee later married Eddie Phillips.

He and former Governor of Minnesota Mark Dayton have both previously lived in the same Georgian Revival home in Minneapolis, which went on the market in 2018 for $3.45 million.
