ABOUT DEDRICK DWAYNE GOBERT

Actor who famously appeared in numerous films written and directed by John Singleton , including Poetic Justice and Higher Learning. He was fatally shot during a fight following an illegal drag race in Mira Loma, CA at the age of 22 years old.

He made his on-screen debut playing the role of Dooky in the 1991 film Boyz n the Hood .

His Boyz n the Hood character is often credited with being the originator of the pacifier trend of the early 1990s, as seen on Flavor Flav in a Public Enemy music video.

During the shooting that ended his life, his girlfriend Jenny Hyon was also shot. She survived the wound, but was left paralyzed from the neck down by the bullet's damage to her spinal cord.

In Boyz n the Hood, he appeared alongside Ice Cube and Cuba Gooding Jr.
