ABOUT DIETMAR DAMERAU
German artist who created his pieces from a wide variety of materials. He made a 106 square-meter painting that took three years.
He was mentored by Otto Sammer after settling in Passau following World War II, where he learned typesetting at the Neue Passauer Presse.
He used materials such as driftwood, trash, lipstick, and coffee grinds.
He and his family fled from the Nazis when he was 10 years old. He married in 1967 and had a son.
He and Antoni Tapies were both world-famous sculptors hailing from Germany.
