Hmong movie actor featured in Clint Eastwood 's film Gran Torino who later landed the role of Po in Disney's live-action adaptation of Mulan .
He sang in choir and school, and participated in the award-winning Show Choir and Concert Choir at the International School of Minnesota.
He was featured in an off-Broadway production called Take Me Out.
His parents are Cher Tong Moua and Pang Chang. He immigrated to the United States when he was 6 months old and grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He has one brother and three sisters.
He and Donnie Yen were cast in the film Mulan.
