Journalist and travel writer who is best known for his book, The Last Resort, which was published in 2009 and is both a memoir and travelogue.

He grew up amidst the Rhodesian Bush War and survived a car crash when he was 11.

His book, The Last Resort, won the British Guild of Travel Writers award for Best Narrative Travel Book.

He was raised with three sisters.

He is a travel writer like Bill Bryson .
