American Democratic politician from Pennsylvania who has served as both the Mayor of Philadelphia and the Governor of Pennsylvania. He also served as the General Chairperson of the
Democratic National Committee from 1999 to 2001.

He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1968 to 1974.

He made a cameo appearance as the mayor of Philadelphia in the 1993 film Philadelphia.

He had one child with wife Marjorie Osterlund.

He endorsed Barack Obama for President in 2008.
