ABOUT EDMUND BLUNDEN

English poet, writer, academic, and literary critic known for his World War I-themed works. A recipient of the Queen's Gold Medal for poetry, he is remembered for such collections as Poems on Japan and An Elegy and Other Poems.

He studied at Queen's College and served in the Royal Sussex Regiment during World War I.

He adored the game of cricket, though he played it with little skill. His 1944 work Cricket Country discusses his beloved sport.

He was the oldest of nine children. Over the course of his three marriages, he had seven children of his own.

His book Cricket Country was positively reviewed by author George Orwell .
