Elton Brand

ABOUT ELTON BRAND

Star NBA forward who was selected first overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 1999 NBA Draft. He was a 2-time All-Star as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers from 2001 to 2008.  After his playing career ended, he was a player development consultant and he eventually became the GM of the Philadelphia 76ers in 2018.

He averaged 40 points and 20 rebounds per game at Peekskill High School in New York.

He started the Elton Brand Foundation to finance worthy projects around three cities: Chicago, Illinois; Peekskill, New York; and Durham, North Carolina.  He shared rookie of the year honors with Steve Francis in 2000.  He made the All-NBA Second Team in 2006.

He had a son, Elton Peace Brand, with his college sweetheart Seneca ShaHara Simmons.  The couple later had a daughter named Mahala.

Because of his height and strength, he drew many comparisons to NBA Hall-of-Famer Charles Barkley .
