Actor known predominantly for the role that launched his career as a child film actor as the younger version of the main character Marcus (played by Randall Park ) in the Netflix film Always Be My Maybe . Afterward, he landed a recurring role as Mason on the ABC sitcom Black-ish . He's spoken in interviews about how excited he is to be a new voice in an industry that typically undervalues non-white actors.

The first role he was cast in was through his mother in her short film titled Starlight Inn. His character was named Hunter, and he caught the acting bug. He started in commercials next, until he achieved enough success to land roles from major studios. One example was his one-off appearance in the show New Girl as a trick-or-treater.

His chosen pronouns displayed on his Instagram account are he/him. His bio also speaks of how much he enjoys playing volleyball.

His mother, Jean Shim, is a director.

His father is golfing buddies with Daniel Dae Kim which he learned on the set of Always Be My Maybe.
