Welsch actress most famous for her portrayal of Veronica "Ronnie" Clayton on the long-running soap opera Coronation Street. She has also played multiple roles on the series Doctors and Karen Johnson on the family show Jamie Johnson.
She grew up in Much Birch, England and graduated from the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. She changed her stage surname from Thompson to Stansfield so as to avoid confusion with actress Emma Thompson.
She is a violinist who played on the score to the 2012 film Melody.
Her parents are Colin and Gill Thompson.
She plays the mother of Louis Dunn 's character on Jamie Johnson.
