Film and television actress most well known as China Lee on the long-running soap opera Days of Our Lives. She has also had prominent roles in films like Bamboozled, Jackie Brown, and How to Be a Player.

After studying human communication and dramatic arts at Howard University, she earned her big break starring in LL Cool J 's music video for "Hey Lover."

In 2000, she portrayed the warrior Amoria on the popular television series Xena: Warrior Princess.

She married fellow actor Michael Jai White in 2015. She has two daughters from a previous marriage, Alaia and Niahla Waters.

During her time on Days of Our Lives, she starred alongside Josh Taylor .
