Singer and cartoon voice actress who was known for her four-octave vocal range and her ability to imitate other voices.

She started singing in big band when she was in high school in 1941.

She has been the voice of many cartoon characters, including Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Minnie Mouse, and Nelly the Singing Giraffe.

Her mother was a pop singer on Boston radio in the mid 1920s.

She dubbed the singing voice of Vera Ellen in the film White Christmas.
