ABOUT GUSTAV SUITS

Estonian poet who rose to literary prominence during the first half of the twentieth century. His best-known works include The Fire of Life, Fire and Wind, and All is But a Dream.

He published an essay when he was just sixteen years old. His debut poem, "Water Lilies," was published in 1899.

His work reflects the turbulent Estonian political climate of his era.

He was born and raised in Vonnu, Estonia, where his father was a school teacher. During the Soviet Occupation, he relocated to Stockholm, Sweden.

He was born in the same country as fellow poet Mats Traat .
