ABOUT GUY HARVEY
Though he is also known for his marine conservation work (exemplified by his establishment of the Guy Harvey Research Institute), this German-born Jamaican nature enthusiast is perhaps most famous for his paintings of aquatic animals.
After earning an honors degree in Marine Biology from Aberdeen University, he received his doctorate in Fisheries Management from the University of the West Indies.
He created an educational television series titled Guy Harvey's Portraits from the Deep.
He was born in Germany to a family of British heritage, and he spent the majority of his childhood in Jamaica.
In the 1980s, he created a series of drawings based on Ernest Hemingway 's marine-themed story "The Old Man and the Sea."
