ABOUT HARRY NATHAN

Twentieth-century British politician who served as a Member of Parliament for both Wandsworth Central and Bethnal Green North East.

After graduating from St. Paul's School in London, he trained as a lawyer. He later fought in World War I.

He began his political career as a member of the Liberal Party. Later, he switched his allegiance to the Labour Party.

His wife, Eleanor, headed the London County Council, and he and his son, Roger, both had careers as barristers.

He served as Under-Secretary of State for War in the last year (1945) of the first administration of Winston Churchill .
