Horst Seehofer

ABOUT HORST SEEHOFER

German politician who was the Federal Minister for Health and Social Security from 1992 to 1998 before becoming the Minister-President of Bavaria in 2008. He belongs to the Christian Social Union party.

He first became a member of the Lower House of the German Parliament in 1980.

When he became the Minister-President of Bavaria in October 2008 he helped form the first coalition government in Bavaria since 1962.

He married Karin Seehofer.

He and Kenyan-born Emilio Kibaki have both served the position of Minister for Health.
