Mexican-Japanese model who rose to fame from her hotly controversial Vogue Italia April 2014 cover dealing with violence against women. She has also appeared on the covers of Vogue for Mexico and Japan.

She was discovered by a modeling agent while working for her father's restaurant after she failed out of her junior year of high school.

She appeared in New York Fashion Week and took over the Yahoo Beauty Instagram page.

She was born and raised in Mexico, City, Mexico, to a Mexican mother and a Japanese father. She never wanted to become a model.

She has done runway for top designers such as Marc Jacobs and Vera Wang .
