ABOUT JACK BROOKS

Politician and member of the Democratic Party who served Texas in the US House of Representatives for 42 years between 1967 and 1995.

He served in Guadalcanal, Guam, Okinawa, and North China as a part of the US Marine Corps during World War II.

When he was defeated in 1994 he became the most senior member of Congress to lose a general election in US history.

He has three children with his wife Charlotte, who he married in 1960.

He is visible in the immortal photograph in which President Lyndon B. Johnson is being sworn into office on Air Force One, following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963.
