ABOUT JAMES MARTIN FENTON

English poet, critic, academic, and journalist known for Terminal Moraine and The Memory of War, among other works. His numerous literary honors include the Eric Gregory Award and the Newdigate Prize.

He was the son of a prominent religious scholar and was raised in Staffordshire and Lincolnshire, England.

He wrote for a socialist newspaper in the 1970s and also traveled to Vietnam and Cambodia as a war journalist.

He became the partner of High Cotton novelist Darryl Pinckney in 1989.

His poetry was hugely influenced by the work of W.H. Auden .
