American aviator, engineer, and businessman who founded the McDonnell Aircraft Corporation.
He attended Princeton University before earning a Master's of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from MIT.
His company was the principal supplier of fighter aircraft to the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
He married twice and had two children by his first wife Mary.
