ABOUT JANET DACAL

Actress, singer and dancer who received the Drama Desk Award for her performance as Carla in the Broadway musical In the Heights . She also starred in musicals such as Wonderland and Prince of Broadway. From January 2020 until the March 2020 COVID-19 shutdown, she played Dina in the national tour of The Band's Visit . She was in the 2021 film Tick, Tick... Boom!

She attended a performing arts middle school and high school in Los Angeles. She moved to Miami when she was 17. After graduating from Coral Park High School, she attended Florida International University .

She worked in the recording studios of Emilio Estefan and Gloria Estefan . She performed in a Miami production of Four Guys Named Jose. In 2004, she made her Broadway debut in the original cast of Good Vibrations.

Her parents are from the La Vibora neighborhood of Havana, Cuba.

She provided background vocals for the 2007 album Mi tiempo by Chayanne .
