Jerry Craft
ABOUT JERRY CRAFT
Children's author and best-selling graphic novel illustrator. He is one of few African-American children illustrators and cartoonists.
Before becoming a novelist, he worked for twelve years as a copywriter.
He was awarded a Newbery Medal for his 2020 novel New Kid, which was a New York Times best-selling book of 2020.
He grew up in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City. He would later attend the Ethical Culture Fieldston School in the Upper West side.
He met cartoonist Jim Keefe on a November 2023 trip to the Midwestern US.
