When she was fifteen, she ran a jewelry business called Jess LC in Rochester, Michigan. She then graduated from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. Her jewelry business expanded to Chicago where she eventually became a business coach. She started her blog in 2009 to share her experiences and her journey with others.

In addition to her blog and her online classes, she also runs a podcast called The Lively Show in which she discusses a variety of things from her travels to helpful advice on living a healthy and confident lifestyle.

She was born and raised in Rochester, Michigan.
