Son of gymnast Shawn Johnson and NFL star Andrew East . As a newborn, he measured 21 inches long and weighed 9 lbs. 13 oz. His parents posted personal footage online from inside the delivery room when he was born.

His parents married in Franklin, Tennessee in April 2016. Guests included Nastia Liukin .

He was named after his uncle and his mother's great great great grandmother. In August 2021, his mother posted a photo of him to Instagram and joked he was already half her size. Singer RaeLynn commented that she was a "glowing momma."

He has an older sister named Drew Hazel East . His grandparents are named Doug and Teri Johnson and Marsha and Guy East.

In May 2009, his mother was the winner of season eight of Dancing with the Stars while partnered with Mark Ballas .
