Former NFL quarterback whose career spanned from 1966 to 1984, mostly playing for the St. Louis Cardinals.

He played college football at Southern Illinois.

He was a 4-time Pro Bowl selection in the 1970s.

He was an only child and his father died when he was about seven years old.

He played for the NFC in the 1978 Pro Bowl along with the legendary Walter Payton .
