He was born in West Palm Beach and got his start in the music industry recording novelty songs for labels like Sunshine Records.

His biggest hit, 'Dance Across the Floor,' was sampled for the Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green single 'Nasty' in 2011.

His father, Jimmie Horne Sr., was a school teacher.

His 1978 single "Dance Across the Floor" was produced by KC and the Sunshine Band's Harry Wayne Casey .
