ABOUT JOãO ACAIABE
Award-winning Brazilian actor and story-teller known best for playing the character Tio Barnabe in the series "Sítio do Picapau Amarelo". In the 80s, he starred in a TV program where he told stories to children. Throughout his life he participated in various labors for social work, such as holding theater classes for teenagers, and speaking for movements for racial equality. He even taught theater at Colégio Santo Américo in São Paulo.
As a teenager, he worked on a radio station in São Paulo. He went on to study theater at the Escola de Arte Dramática de São Paulo and acted in his first professional role in 1971.
He starred in a short film in 1986 named "O Dia em que Dorival Facerou a Guarda" and won the award for best actor at the year's Gramado Festival.
He was married with two children and three stepchildren.
He and Rodrigo Santoro are both Brazilian actors.
