ABOUT JOAN MURRAY
Poet and author who published a 1999 verse novel entitled Queen of the Mist. Her poetry collections include The Same Water, published in 1990, and Dancing on the Edge, published in 2002.
She studied at both Hunter College and New York University. She published her debut poetic work, Egg Tooth, in 1975.
Her poems are unique for their long, emotional lines.
She grew up in New York City. She married at age nineteen and had one child.
Joyce Carol Oates chose Murray's Queen of the Mist as the runner-up for a Poetry Society of America Award.
